I've been interested in natural remedies and herbal medicine for a long time, and when I recently learned about this book, written by someone I met once, I bought it right away. This book is an "informative guide to herbal home health care." I've bought many of the ingredients in this book and followed the instructions for things like an eye infection in my daughter, my own arthritis pain, toothaches, and even followed some suggestions to make up my own herbal salve for the bug bites my children were getting.
The book has two parts: Part one covers Essential Household Remedies and goes over different herbs and ingredients such as apple cider vinegar, charcoal and onions. It explains what they can do and how to use them.
Part two is Working With Your Family's Health and covers different illness, how to care for pregnancy, the mature woman and also growing girls. It covers how to treat burns, kidneys, liver and gall bladder.
This book offers information on how to deal with colds and flu, how to stop bleeding and heal wounds, how to make your own tinctures, poultices, teas and salves, and how to understand hormones.
It also has a list of supplies you should keep on hand all the time.
The author, Rachel Weaver, is a Master Herbalist who has nine children. I've only had this book a short time, and it is already getting dog eared. This is a great book for anyone, but especially a mother caring for children still at home.
